3 Verses you Need To Memorize To Live Your Purpose

Have you noticed how falsehood and fear are dramatically rising?

Me too.

As Christians, we are not supposed to live in EITHER state of emotion.

Falling for falsehood or fear stems from 2 things:

  1. Forgetting how big your God is

  2. Not knowing the truth in the first place

I get it, there is A LOT going on!

I’m sure you have a list as long as your arm of issues that you could be worrying about in your personal life. Health, finances, jobs, relationships, etc (whether it's for you or your family)

And if you pay even the slightest amount of attention to what's going on in the world you'd have a list equally as long.

God's Word doesn't call us to worry but instead calls us to war on behalf of His Kingdom.

You need equipment if you are going to war.

Ephesians 6:17 talks about the word of God being our sword.

And it is what God gave us to cut through false teachings and fearful thoughts.

It works most powerfully when it’s ALREADY in our minds and hearts, that’s why we need to be in the Word DAILY.

Psalm 119:11

I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.

If we’ve got it IN our hearts the Holy spirit can bring it to mind at a moment's notice so we stay on God’s track for us.

So where do we start? I’ve got what I think are 3 really powerful verses if you get them in your heart. They have served me well and I have tremendous faith they will serve you well too!

Verse 1:

Proverbs 29:25

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe

The Holy Spirit guided me with this verse just the other day. (He's done it many times!) I saw a video clip on Facebook about abortion And I felt that it explained the Christian viewpoint about it extremely well. At first I had no hesitation to share it. But then came the devil's schemes…

Do you really want to open up this can of worms Dorothy?

You know that some of your family members feel differently about this.

What if your Facebook account gets flagged?

What if this, what if that….

The enemy brought all kinds of excuses into my mind.

But then the Holy Spirit brought this verse to mind!

Fear of man will prove to be a snare but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe…

And that's who I want to be, that's where I want to live. So I shared it immediately.

Having this verse in your heart will remind you to live for the purposes of God and to stand up when other people sit down. We are here to know God and make Him known and we can't do that if we are worried about what everyone else thinks.

Verse 2:

Judges 6:14

The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Am I not sending you?”

The LORD is telling Gideon to get going and obey what he was commanded to do instead of making a bunch of excuses about being the weakest person around.

God specializes in using the weakest people because then He gets the most glory.

The phrase ‘ go in the strength you have’ is what the Holy Spirit brings to my mind the most. with whatever strength, resources, energy… no matter how small, go with that exact amount. because that's all that's needed for God to do a true miracle.

Notice something else: people's freedom, including Gideon’s, was at stake. It hinged on Gideon's obedience. Someone's freedom hinges on your obedience. Now God will use someone else if you refuse to be obedient (read Ester) But I want to be part of God's miracles, don't you?

Obey in the smallest way. Just go in the strength you have even if it's just the breath in your lungs.

Verse 3:

Psalm 86:11

Teach me your way LORD, that I may walk in your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.

I LOVE THIS VERSE!

I think it's one of the shortest yet most powerful little prayers in the Bible.

Asking God to teach you puts your heart in a posture of humility and readiness to learn God's truth so you can fully walk in it.

Asking for an undivided heart circles us back to the first verse that I gave you. It helps us stay on task. It helps us keep focused on the Lord instead of the swirling worries around us.

I’m serious, try this: sit in a quiet place and say this verse out loud, with earnestness, 12 times. You will not feel the same after you are done, I promise.

Friends, be in the Word daily. Think about it, meditate on it.

That is the ONLY way we will be able to recognize falsehood and stamp out the fear Satan wants us to live in.

The world doesn’t need more fearful Christians; it needs fearless ones who know their God and protect themselves with His Word.

So pick up your sword, friend.

Pray. Believe. Speak truth.

Let’s live boldly. We know who wins this war.

In passionate purpose,

Dorothy
