5 Signs to Discern What Message YOU Are Meant To Steward
You already know about my come to Jesus moment in 2017.
The weeping. The grandbabies. The decision to not quit no matter how long it took.
But there was something I did not understand that was happening back then.
At some point along the way I realized God was not just giving me a personal goal that would change me forever...
He was handing me a message to steward.
And I have a feeling He is doing the exact same thing in your life right now.
You just cannot see it yet because you are still in the middle of it.
Here is what I need you to understand before we go any further:
Life FEELS like it is about you. Your health. Your struggles. Your goals.
But it is not about you.
It is about what God has entrusted to you to steward. And the sooner you see your life through that lens, the sooner everything changes.
When you know what God has called you to steward you stop drifting. You persevere through obstacles that would have stopped the old you cold. You wake up every single day with a reason to keep going.
That is what passionate purpose does.
You have one. Whether you know it yet or not.
So let's figure out what it is…
Here are 5 signs that something might be the message God has entrusted to you:
#1 It bothers you, like it cannot happen on your watch.
There is something that when you see it, when you hear about it, when you encounter it in the lives of people around you, something rises up in you that says NO. Not on my watch. This cannot keep happening.
That is not just personality. That is not just passion.
That is a holy assignment knocking on the door of your heart.
Pay attention to what makes you angry in a righteous way. Pay attention to what breaks your heart consistently. Pay attention to what you cannot look away from when everyone else seems unbothered.
That’s how I feel when I see people give up and tell me their life has no purpose or meaning. ESPECIALLY when they have chronic illness. It makes me MAD. REEEEEALLY mad. Not at them…at the devil for spewing those lies. And I have no choice but to counter them with TRUTH.
#2 There seems to be opposition.
Sweet friend, I say this with all the love I have:
If you are rowing down the river of life and everything seems completely easy and frictionless, you might be rowing in the wrong direction.
Satan will not let you calmly walk into the fullness of the life and destiny God has prepared for you. He does NOT want you to take back the territory he stole through his lies and deception. He is going to come against you every single step of the way.
He wants you to quit before your faith gets too big to stop.
So if you have been sensing a calling and simultaneously experiencing unusual resistance, do not take that as a sign to retreat.
Take it as confirmation that you are headed somewhere worth fighting for!!!
#3 God keeps unfolding new facets of the same thing over and over again.
Whether it is in your own life, in conversations with people around you, in what you keep reading or hearing or stumbling across, God keeps bringing you back to the same territory.
Different angles. Different stories. Different seasons.
But the same thread is running through all of it.
That is never a coincidence. That is usually God saying “Pay attention! I am trying to show you something!”
#4 It gives you supernatural energy to push past normal limits.
There are things that drain you and things that fill you even when they are hard.
When you are operating in the area God has called you to steward, something happens that defies logic. You are tired but you keep going. You hit a wall and somehow find what you need to get through it. You do more than you thought you had in you and come out the other side more energized than when you started.
That is not hustle culture. That is the Holy Spirit strengthening you!!!
Pay attention to where you find that kind of energy. It is telling you something important.
#5 You seem to have wisdom in this area that most people around you don't have.
Not because you are smarter. Not because you are more gifted or you have a degree in something.
But because you have LIVED it. You have been in that particular valley and found your way through it. You have learned things in that territory that can only be learned by walking it.
And people keep coming to you with questions in that area. They keep saying you just get it in a way nobody else does.
That is not random. That is God equipping you for an assignment He already knew was yours.
Now, some important caveats…
Maybe you read through those five signs and thought, "Dorothy, that's great but nothing bothers me that way. I don't have supernatural energy for anything. I don't have any special wisdom."
And I want to say this as lovingly and as directly as I possibly can:
That is a lie. And you do not have time to keep believing it.
Here is what I think is really happening. The thing God wants you to steward might not be bothering you the way it should because somewhere along the way you believed the enemy's lie that you don't have what it takes to do anything about it.
And here is the thing. He is partially right.
You cannot do this without God. None of us can.
But do NOT let that make you think nothing can be done.
Gideon defeated an entire army without killing a single person. All he did was obey everything God said one step at a time. That is ALL God needs from you. Your obedience. Not your perfection. Not your confidence. Not your fully formed plan.
Just your yes.
And as for the supernatural energy and wisdom? The Bible does not leave us guessing here.
2 Timothy 1:6 tells us to fan into flame the gifts God has placed in us. They are already there. They just need to be fanned.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us that God prepared good works for us before the foundations of the world. Before you were born He was already thinking about what He would entrust to you.
Which means this:
God looked ahead at 2026 and thought the world needed exactly YOU in it.
With all of YOUR experiences.
YOUR skills.
YOUR relationships.
And yes, even what feels like YOUR "problems."
Because here is the thing about problems that will change your life the moment you truly believe it:
Problems are not detours from your purpose. They ARE your purpose taking shape.
They are opportunities for connection, growth, and glorifying God. They are the very thing that will allow you to look someone in the eye someday and say I have been exactly where you are and here is what I know.
The moment you start seeing your problems that way, your life will drastically change.
So let me ask you something directly:
What are you already living right now that you have not yet recognized as a message?
What have you walked through, or are still walking through, that has given you a perspective most people around you simply do not have?
What thread keeps showing up in your life over and over again in different forms?
Because I have a strong feeling the message God has entrusted to you is not some future thing you have not experienced yet.
It is probably something you are already living.
You just have not recognized it as a message yet because you are still in the middle of it.
Friend, you have something God has entrusted to you.
You have people who need what only YOU can give them because of what only YOU have been through.
And you do not have time to keep sitting on it while the enemy whispers that you have nothing to offer.
You have everything to offer because you have JESUS!
Now go steward it. 💙

I confess that I have let the enemy convince me that what I have been through has no value. That my story is too ordinary. That my struggles are too messy. That I do not have what it takes to be used by You in any significant way.
Forgive me for believing that.
Open my eyes today to the message You have been unfolding in my life. Show me the thread You have been weaving through my experiences, my pain, my wisdom, and my obedience. Help me to see what You have been preparing me for all along.
Fan into flame the gifts You placed in me. Remind me of the good works You prepared for me before the foundations of the world. Give me the courage to stop sitting on what You have entrusted to me and start stewarding it boldly.
I choose today to stop letting the enemy convince me I have nothing to offer. I choose to believe that 2026 needs exactly me. With exactly what I have been through. With exactly what You have taught me.
Show me my message. And give me the boldness, strength and obedience to share it.
