Stop Waiting For Doors To Open...When There Are Windows That WILL
Are you a “waiter?”
And I don't mean someone who brings food to tables in restaurants. (Wink)
I mean someone who waits for the “perfect conditions” before they act.
Or maybe you wait with the excuse “you just need a little more confirmation from God before you proceed.”
Listen, I get it. I used to do that. And I would give God the most elaborate, incredible excuses of why I hadn't moved forward yet.
And most of the time, I would actually unknowingly be blaming God for my lack of results.
I mean, if He would just give me more energy, more resources, more focus, more strength, more…SOMETHING… I'd be able to accomplish more for Him, right?
Just so you know, God thinks our excuses are garbage.
He knows the plan.
If you truly needed what you think you lack to accomplish His plans and purposes for you, you'd already have it.
Either you don't need it yet, OR the process of obtaining it will create fruit that God wants to produce in you.
Jesus fed the 5,000 with only a few fish and loaves. The disciples thought they needed a lot to accomplish the plan, they only needed a little!
He fed a bunch of people but also gave a huge boost to the disciples faith by initially not having enough for what needed to be accomplished.
Friend, stop waiting for doors to open when there are windows that WILL.
Let me give you an example.
The last time I saw my geneticist I asked him a million questions about what I should and shouldn't be doing so I could best manage dealing with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
He could tell that I was very determined and I was willing to not just go the extra mile but several miles if you will to be as optimally healthy as I could even though I deal with this condition.
I'm in many Facebook groups for EDS and I see people say over and over and over again “there's nothing that can be done because it's all genetic.”
I think that's a complete lie. (and I'm living a life that PROVES it!) Our bodies are always trying to heal as well as adapt to less than ideal circumstances.
He told me to quit waiting for there to be specific studies on what will help people with EDS. He said there's no money in it so doctors don't publish studies. There are tons of doctors that know of protocols that help, he added, but it's not as "sexy” as something like cancer, fertility, or longevity. Those are the things that get studies and findings published.
He told me to look at what helps certain mechanisms in the body rather than something specific for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
He told me to look for and experiment with what would specifically help ME.
What helps your mitochondria?
What helps you with energy?
What helps you with inflammation?
What helps you with rashes and mast cell issues?
What helps you with sleep?
What helps you with recovery?
What helps you gain strength and stability?
If I had waited all these years for someone to tell me what to do to manage this condition,
I would never have learned how to manage it at all!!!
Listen, I know you want a secure, safe, map with every pit stop and pothole marked for this next season in your life but you're not going to get one.
YOU HAVE TO CREATE ONE.
The good news is, God promises to be with you for every single step and every single second of it.
I made the map of what helps me manage EDS through lots of failures, lots of dead ends, tons of research, and never giving up. And I think this process has helped me far more than if someone would have just handed me a pre-written protocol with everything I'm doing right now.
I am far more capable, knowledgeable, wise, humble, grateful, thankful doing it the way God brought me through it than if I had just been handed the answers.
Friend, learn to love this process.
Don't wait years for a specific door to open when there could be five windows that open right now.
God doesn’t just want to bring you recovery…He wants to bring you DISCOVERY.
He wants you to discover beautiful things about Himself, yourself and the people around you.
I promise you His way is better, even if it’s harder.
Stop being a “waiter.” Go blaze that trail and plot your map.
Discover what God really wants to reveal to you in this season. Then praise Him for everything He shows you and share it with others.
What excuses have you been giving God as to why you haven’t moved forward with something?
Do any of those excuses truly matter when you serve the only Almighty God that can raise the dead, make the sun stand still, and part seas?
Your purpose and God’s plans aren’t waiting on perfect circumstances, it's waiting on you to take the next step.
God will shape you, strengthen you, and stretch you through the very process you’re trying to avoid.
So stop waiting for a door.
Start climbing through the windows.
Start learning.
Start discovering.
Start moving.
My friend, if God can take a woman with EDS, chronic pain, exhaustion, and a million unknowns, and lead her into strength, resilience, and purpose, He can absolutely do the same for you.
He’s not asking you to understand the whole road.
He’s asking you to trust the One who walks it with you.
I love you! I’m rooting for you! Keep going!
In passionate purpose,
Dorothy
