8 Signs You Aren’t Living In What Jesus Gave You

I LOVE the Bible! It continually blows my mind. No matter how much we study, there is always a new, deeper layer to dive into.

I was reading in Mark chapter 5 the other day when something really caught my attention in verse 34:

“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”

The phrase go in peace in Greek can mean “to join,” “to lead” or “bring under.”

So in other words God can heal you of something but that doesn't mean you're automatically going to feel peace.

You have to lead yourself to peace. Join yourself with peace. Bring yourself under the peace God freely gives you.

Now the phrase be free in Greek really blew my mind. The first few definitions were expected:

“Whole”, “restore to health” etc.

Then, there was this one:

Teaching which does not deviate from the truth

Whoa, wait…what? You mean that this woman wasn’t 100% emotionally, mentally and spiritually healed when she was physically healed?

CORRECT.

That means if we aren’t careful, we can live in a way that does not reflect the true healing or deliverance Christ has given us, in any area of our lives. (not just physical)

A little back story for anyone that might not know...the woman Jesus healed had been bleeding for TWELVE years.

Women were considered unclean during their period and would have been isolated, people would not have touched them or anything THEY had touched until they could have gone to the temple to be ceremonially cleansed by offering a sacrifice of a lamb and a dove 7 days after bleeding stopped.

Thinking that she was unclean, unfit, needing to be isolated from people would have been an ingrained habit.

She would have adopted it as an identity after 12 long, lonely, disappointing, painful (I’m sure physically and mentally) Earlier in this account, it also says that she spent all she had trying to get better.

She was emotionally, physically, financially SPENT.

Yet scripture records that she took the last little bit she had in her spiritual bank account, using her last bit of faith to reach out and touch the edge of his cloak to be healed.

Jesus healed her body. But now SHE needed to do the work of renewing her mind and staying in the “Teaching which does not deviate from the truth.”

She also had to join and lead herself with the peace and freedom Jesus provided her.

And that takes conscious work!!!

Are there some places you feel you should "feel" more healed? Maybe you are but you aren't walking in it!

Here are 8 signs you aren’t living in the healing God offers you:

1. You still identify with what hurt you.

You don’t just say, “I went through betrayal.”
You say (internally), “I am the betrayed one.”

You don’t say, “I struggled with anxiety.”
You say, “I’m just an anxious person.”

Healing happened.
Identity didn’t shift.

Romans 12:2 talks about being transformed by the renewing of your mind, not just touched by God once, but rewired by truth.

2. You expect rejection, even when you’re welcomed.

Like the woman who would have lived isolated for 12 years…

If someone doesn’t text back quickly?
You assume they’re annoyed.

If a room goes quiet?
You assume you said something wrong.

You think the worst and best case scenario is completely foreign to your mind.

3. You rehearse pain more than you rehearse truth.

You replay conversations.
You replay failures.
You replay what they did.

You’re really good at building the pain of the past rather than the potential of your future.

But you don’t meditate on what God said.

In Mark 5, Jesus speaks one beautiful, identity-shifting word over her:
“Daughter.”

He renamed her before He healed her.

If your internal dialogue contradicts what He calls you, your mind hasn’t caught up with your miracle.

4. You sabotage peace because chaos feels familiar.

Peace feels awkward.
Silence feels uncomfortable.
Healthy relationships feel suspicious.

And rest? You don’t deserve that, right?

So you stir something.
Pick something.
Worry about something.

Not because you want dysfunction…
But because dysfunction is what you’ve known for so long.

5. You live hyper-vigilant instead of surrendered.

You’re always scanning.
Always bracing.
Always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

You don’t feel safe, even though Christ secured you.

You don’t trust that healing is real.

6. You keep trying to pay for what Jesus already covered.

She had spent everything trying to get healed.

Some of us are still spending:
Over-performing.
Over-apologizing.
Over-explaining.
Over-proving.

As if you still need to earn belonging.

7. Your theology is correct, but your thoughts are not.

You KNOW God forgives.
You KNOW you’re redeemed.
You KNOW you’re free.

But your daily thoughts do not align with “teaching that does not deviate from the truth.”

Renewal isn’t information.
It’s alignment with what GOD says about you!

8. You’re healed… but you haven’t joined yourself to peace.

Jesus said, “Go in peace.”

That implies movement towards it!
Intentionally choosing peace!

Peace is available.
But are you leading and joining yourself to it?

Listen friends,

Don’t be like the Israelites. God physically removed them from Egypt but it took 40 years in the desert to get the Egypt/slave mentality out of the Israelites.

Adopt your new identity. Live in it.

Which of the 8 did you most resonate with?

Keep intentionally aligning your heart and mind with truth!

In passionate purpose,

Dorothy
